Google’s Gemini and agentic AI are transforming retail, turning discovery, decision-making, and checkout into a seamless, personalized, and fully integrated experience.

David Guggina, 40, joined Walmart nearly eight years ago after a stint at Amazon.com Inc, reported Bloomberg. Before his promotion, he served as EVP and Chief eCommerce Officer for Walmart US, and previously held the role of EVP of Supply Chain Operations, reported Reuters.

Amazon's acquisition of Whole Foods netted more than 500 retail locations, but Whole Foods has far fewer products available than your typical Walmart. Amazon has more than 1,300 shipping facilities, but that still puts the company at a disadvantage against Walmart.

Walmart is promoting four execs to new roles under new CEO John Furner, including US e-commerce chief David Guggina, who will head up the US division.

The retailer will bring drone delivery to Los Angeles, Cincinnati, St. Louis and Miami later this year, but no Wisconsin stores have been announced.

The Arkansas-based retailer, which has been touting its e-commerce capabilities, is slated to join the index on Jan. 20th.
