Leonora Carrington, born in 1917 in England, was a pioneering figure of Surrealism whose artistic journey spanned continents and decades. After studying at the Chelsea School of Art and meeting key surrealist artists like Max Ernst, whom she later married, Carrington became deeply embedded in the surrealist movement during the tumultuous 1930s and 1940s.
